Rule out the simple display path first
A failed cable, wrong input or display compatibility issue can create no signal. Use a known-good cable and another display when possible.
- Correct TV or monitor input
- Known-good HDMI cable
- Another display
- Safe-mode or resolution reset where appropriate
Look for physical port damage
Bent internal contacts, a loose connector and a plug that no longer seats correctly suggest physical damage. Do not scrape the port or force the cable.
- Loose movement
- Bent or missing contact
- Port pushed into the case
- Damage after a cable was knocked
Why board condition matters
The HDMI port is soldered to the motherboard. Lifted pads, torn traces or damage to output components can turn a port replacement into wider board repair.
- Port anchors
- Signal pads and traces
- Output protection and encoder components
- Previous repair attempts
Test the console after repair
A successful repair should confirm stable picture and sound, physical connector support and correct output at normal operating temperature.
- Repeated cable connection
- Video and audio output
- Resolution change
- Warm operating test
Frequently asked questions
Can every HDMI port be replaced?
Many can, but board damage and parts availability determine whether the result is practical.
Does no signal prove the port is broken?
No. Cable, display, settings and output circuitry can also cause no signal.
Should I keep trying different angles?
No. Movement can worsen a loose port or tear board pads.
